Food Distribution
Poverty, inequality, conflict and climate are just some of the factors that lead to food insecurity. Iraq deals with all of these contributing factors. Olive Branch provides locally sourced hampers filled with high quality food staples to aid families across multiple communities.
In Iraq alone, 2.5 million people are in acute need of food assistance.

A SPACE OF REPRIEVE FOR WOMEN VIA
Community Centres
Situated in two Internally Displaced Peoples (IDP) Camps, our centres offer a space of reprieve for women dealing with the prolonged or complex trauma. Together, a group of women work alongside our trained staff to discuss and progress through a multi-faceted curriculum addressing trauma and resiliency.
Additionally, women are given the opportunity to engage in tactile skills development aspects of the course; starting or honing tangible take-home aptitudes which can give provide a needed income source for families.
as a result of ISIS genocidal campaign:
o 6,417 Yazidi women and children were abducted and heinously enslaved
o 2,763 children are now orphaned as a result of the brutal killing
o Roughly 400,000 people were displaced

Disaster response
When disasters befall the most vulnerable populations the staff of Olive Branch rush in to provide care and assistance alongside our local partners. Olive Branch has provided a range of NFI’s to help families in the immediate aftermath and reestablish a sense of safety and normalcy. These have include fire suppression systems, water coolers, refrigerators, beds and blankets.
22 camps host more than 150,000 displaced individuals across the region yet these camps continue to face service cuts backs due to budget shortfalls.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
There are a spectrum of complex factors that affect a community’s ability to thrive, some of which are unique. Yet, we at Olive Branch, know that within these communities lies the means of overcoming when bolstered well.
Olive Branch is engaging in locally focused ventures to address sustainable income supports for displaced and minority families in an effort to seek greater stability and resiliency. These include skill development programs, animal husbandry projects, apiculture development and micro-financing initiatives’ .
Of displaced and minority household surveyed only 22% reported having a steady vocational income stream.
